Library: Part 3

Here are the long awaited updates to the library project. This first picture is the point I reached as of last Friday afternoon, but neglected to take my camera to work that day, so I snapped a picture of it this morning (since I was home sick yesterday and could not).

This is the part of the reference desk that juts out into the room and forms one side of a passageway between it and the circulation desk. Today, I worked on the section to be against the wall.

This picture is a detail of what all of the exterior corners will eventually look like. I didn't want to bring plywood up against plywood in a miter only to have it crunched by a chair or vacuum or boot ramming up against it. With that in mind, I decided to make the corners with solid maple which, hopefully, will weather the time better. I mitered it so I could have matching grain on the exposed faces. Yeah, yeah, I'm sure I'm the only one that'll notice when it's done, whatever, I like it.

These here are pictures of what I accomplished during today's worktime. Just so people don't think I'm ridiculously slow (just moderately slow), I do find myself being interrupted by other jobs throughout the day, so my progress is impeded. That and I'm sort of making a lot of this up as I go along. I find it makes the project more unique. I'm also going to burn the plans when I'm done. Kidding.
