There is still lots and lots of shaping and fitting to do yet, but this is the basic structure. I'm not sure how great it will look with the awkward-shaped top on it, but we'll see. I'm having fun cutting tenons and mortises.

the best part of mortising and tenons is the sawduct
er... sawdust
did you consider joining the two cross pieces where they meet and then creating the tenon out of both pieces? Possibly tightening the joint with a wedge between the two pieces, if that makes sense.
Just a thought...
I need to find my way back into the shop....
I was going to half-lap them and then cut a single tenon after it was dry but the plank I was cutting from wasn't big enough and the grain was unique enough that I didn't want to use from two different boards.
So I tenoned the top piece to the bottom and then the bottom into the leg. It worked out all right, but I might have preferred something fancier had I been able.
I found this site using google.com And i want to thank you for your work. You have done really very good site. Great work, great site! Thank you!
